Brother Martin Chapel

New Orleans, Louisiana, 2011

About this project

I was commissioned to sculpt two life -size sculptures in the round for the new Brother Martin High School Chapel in New Orleans, La. dedicated in November of 2011. One was a Holy Family and one a Teaching Jesus. Both are cast in bronze.

I also provided a set of Stations of the Cross, series 3 on my site. The Holy Family depicts Mary seated on the trunk of the tree of life with the child Jesus sleeping on her lap. Joseph, the upright man, stands behind both, his hands gently placed on Mary’s shoulders. The Teaching Jesus was inspired by a similar sculpture belonging to the Brothers of t he Sacred Heart in France. It is however an original design.
